    I’d like to have been taller;
...and born to less despicable parents. This post was edited by Don Barzini at October 2, 2018 7:21 PM MDT

Given what you’ve said about them, that is most understandable.

On the other hand, I may not have been as driven to succeed in my life if they had been more involved and spoiled me. Who knows.
I don’t favor giving them credit they don’t deserve though.

What about you, Rizz, what would you change?

I would change choosing not to go to college. As good as I am at my job, it’s taken a heavy mental toll on me. I’m now on medication.

If I may be so bold, what field of study would you have pursued in college?

At the time, to be a teacher. I wanted to be an elementary teacher.

Noble profession, and there is certainly a need for good ones.

Most definitely. An underpaid and under appreciated profession.

I doubted my intelligence and abilities to succeed in college. I struggled in high school. Not because of lack of effort.

You may be surprised at some of the mediocre minds who earn degrees. I don’t intend this as a comment on you, just that genius isn’t all that common in college either, unless you’re a physics major. Those eggheads are unbelievable. ;)

I’m amazed with the intelligence of many professions. Doctors, surgons, physics, any advanced science, and  pharmacists. Just to name a few.

My father is a surgeon and he isn't all that smart.  He got in to medical school because his uncle was on the admissions review board and went through on the Army Special Training Program during WWII.  He must have good technical skills but can be illogical and is barely literate.

I don't know what decisions would have to do with it since they are always there for us to make and we can decide tomorrow.  But I think I would like to have been smarter in terms of intellectual understanding.  There are a lot of philosophical concepts I can't "get" at all and I think it would be nice to be able to grasp them.

I would not have rejected 30 years ago the woman who, in retrospect, was the love of my life over our religious difference.

Religious and non-religious beliefs are important. I’m not sure if I could date someone who holds different beliefs.

This is a tough one, Stu.
Love is irrational enough without deities and inert ideologies in play. Dissimilar beliefs have caused many a misery, depending of course on how much emphasis we put on such positions.
I hope regret hasn’t choked your path to a happy life.
