Is there a song you like whose lyrics help you emotionally/mentally/spiritually/etc.?
I love Howard Jones' music.
His "Life in One Day" - - incredibly empowering lyrics and a great song for me.
I've seen him in concert - - at one of the concerts I suddenly got escorted out of line by security guards -- I asked what was wrong as they walked with me - - nothing was wrong, it was that the guards thought I was Howard Jones' brother and they were taking me backstage! "You look so much like him," they said. Stupid me - - I told them I was not his brother and they let me go. If I had played along, I could have met Jones! :)
Yes, it is a cover of the original but I love both. This version was actually played by Buckley's mother at a memorial service for him. How hauntingly appropriate.
I'm not sure how much of his music you are familiar with, but I also love his cover of Cohen's "Hallelujah." Again, I love both but they are so diverse in terms of the vocal ranges and styles.
Oh, my, I enjoyed enjoyed listening to this. Outstanding. :)
(I told you I'd be back, ha! I've told many people the same thing lately -- that I'd be back to listen to songs they posted; I hope I've gotten to them all. Well, I can think of at least one poster I need to get to. The answerMugger posted about four songs - - haven't gotten to them yet.)
