I've heard other settings, especially voice ones, drag like this as well. But the music was written as more of a march a la John Philip Sousa's great works. IMO, the best renditions are played by symphonic and marching bands such as in colleges and the military. Listen to the one I posted above by Cornell U's Big Red pep band.
And I completely forgot to mention that I played flute growing up and later the piccolo, and I played the Stars and Stripes piccolo solo in a concert with my high school band way back in 1976.
Hi! :) :) I"m coming back to you. :) :) We still have some unfinished business ... about last night! Big Giggles. I've gotta run & pick up some IKA stuff. Hugs and loves. :) :)
Great answer. My niece had a cheer camp and did a halftime cheer at a local small college football game. Every time I hear our nation anthem I get goosebumps.

UFO performing Rock Bottom on The Midnight Special - pure bliss. Just checked, it was actually Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.

I just read your post to Don because he knows all about The Midnight Special! Before I could finish reading, he said YA!! Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. Awesome!! :) :)
A bit off the beaten path, but my favorite choral work performed by not one but two great men's glee clubs, Morehouse College from Atlanta joining Cornell University at Sage Chapel in Ithaca, NY. Just listen to the close harmonies!
