I had a cat I named 'Greyhound' because that was his color.

Very cool.  My mom and dad had a dog named kitty and a cat named mouse.  I don't know if those qualifies as euphemisms because neither a dog is unpleasant nor a cat.  In fact and mouse would be much more of an unpleasantness.  A mouse named cat would have been a better choice! :)
