Congratulations on graduating high school.  You were at the perfect age to see Animal House.... just before going to college!  Grease was a fun movie all the way around.  John Travolta did a great job and Olivia Newton John really did "rock it" in both her character portrayals.  :) :) This post was edited by Merlin at October 30, 2018 12:40 PM MDT

  • That was the year my mom moved from Japan to the United States. She would meet my dad a few years later. :)

The whole year?  I was seventeen.  How bad could my life be?  I was a free, good looking, healthy, spoiled, middle-class, hippie living with my friends in a "pad" in Chicago.

We dropped acid at least once a month if not more.   We smoked pot a lot.  Not every day.  It was expensive.  Like $5 a shot glass full.  Back in oh wait.  That was 1968.   Let me start again.

You said 1978.   That's different.  Flash forward another decade.

I am 27 for most of the year till November....

I have just finished quitting my second career.  I am starting to drink heavily but still have my looks and no one really knows what a freaking drunk I am, since most of my crowd like to drink and party.   I did not know that my life was going down the tubes, because it really wasn't.  I had two degrees,  I told myself I was really smart.  OH GOD WHAT A DRUNK CHILD I WAS.   There were plenty of opportunities to blow and ways to disappoint myself by doing the wrong thing based on being a drunk.  I didn't learn that until about 1983.

    I digress.

The good part was I was still healthy and partying my butt off with lots of job opportunities in law and cosmetics.  They blend so well.   I went to a lot of concerts still.  I loved music.  I was working as a court reporter.  I thought running on empty was a normal way to live.

I had a lot of energy. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at October 30, 2018 12:40 PM MDT

I think that's the year I won my first spelling bee and had my tonsils removed. Important and exciting things for a 2nd grader!
