I got home from work around 6:30 PM. No one came to the door after that. Our development had a little trick or treat party in the common area for the kids in the development. No one has come to my door in a decade.
I had three different families come this year which is a record. Usually it's only one or two families that come to my house. I live seven miles from the closest town so if they're going to make the effort to come to my house I'll try to make it worth their time so this year I gave each kid four packs of two-piece king-size Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
We get a lot of kids from the inner city. It is too dangerous in their neighborhoods. That's a shame. Everyone is welcome. We must have had 150 kids show up.
I bought candy. Good Candy. My parents always gave out bad candy, I thought. My friends thought so, too.
We had two.
It's sad. When I was a kid it was a blast to get dressed up and go around our neighborhood. Now, people around here take their kids to the mall or just at school. Parents don't feel it is safe anymore. Our side of the neighborhood doesn't have many kids but I hoped the other side would come over. NO. It's not like that. It was the way the development was set up. One side has recreational things and is family oriented. It's great and the kids love it, too! Our side doesn't have that energy. It is quieter. That's all.
We are back Stateside for a few months and in our house here. We went through about 2-3 KG. Kids started coming at 17:30 by 19:30 no one. Funniest was akid I told to take 2. He said no thank you, nothing here I like. There were M&M's, Twix, Reeses, Snickers, Milky Way, and the list goes on. Do note my partner did eat all the almond joys before any kid arrived.........
