I dabbled in fashion modeling right after high school. After the proper schooling it was quite lucrative, but that was in Pittsburgh. Had some interest from a well known NYC agency but boyfriend nixed that for me. I think NYC was the aim for most of the girls I knew. No one wanted to go to Chicago but maybe they didn't recognize opportunities there.

Way back when in the 70's I did a few stints working with models doing hair and makeup. But, I had my head up my …. back then and was not focused enough to actually develop a career.
Sigh.
Anyhow, you reminded me of this when you spoke of being a model. You went a whole lot further in that industry than I did. Pretty interesting!
I probably could have gone farther if I went to NYC, but the big city is dangerous and there was so much jealousy even n Pittsburgh, people playing pranks if you got on camera more than them.. They were hateful. So its just as well. Maybe the hair and makeup part that you did would have been way more fun;) However the training and experience served me well in all phases of my life:)
Oh, come now. It's not that dangerous when you live here or, if you're visiting, you're smart and aware of your surroundings. I've been to Pittsburgh several times, and it's also a large city and the same principle applies.
