What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

Science Fiction (real sci-fi... not that "horror" stuff they try to pass off as sci-fi).

I lean toward non-fiction with books and horror/ suspense with movies.

War movies based on true stories.

With books, I prefer non-fiction, particularly biographies, autobiographies and historical documentaries.
With movies, I am pretty open.  I'm just not a fan of the contemporary romance genre.

BOOKS - Educational
MOVIES - Comedy

Books: Sci Fy, British spy novels, Clancey.
Movies: Action, Mystery.

Books: sf and fantasy. Tolkein, Heinlein, Salvatore, Herbert, McCaffrey etc.

Movies: comedy, particularly surreal or absurd. Monty Python, Robin Williams, the Marx Brothers.

I like intelligent mysteries.

I like True Crime, specifically Ann Rule's books. 

Books both informative and poetic.  Books about nature.

As far as motion pictures I would say those that tell a poignant story true to life, uplifting generally,  and with a wealth of detail.  This post was edited by officegirl at December 2, 2018 9:26 AM MST

Adventure and comedy.  Know of any adventure/comedy stories?

Environmental earth sciences.

Generally  well written mind candy for books, Say Baldacci, Vince Flynn, Donna Leon (my favorite) in the fiction categories.  Non-fiction depends on the topic Investing, and Biographies top the list

Movies anything but Horror, most Woody Allen or anything with Adam Sandler.
