You know this is a test for me from above.  I am supposed to work on nonjudgmentalism, I guess.

I really love her more than I hate Trump, I guess.  Friends are more important that jerks whom I loathe.

Trump has enough smarts to do some things that make himself seem likeable yet he is so phoney that how can anyone really actually like a personality such as his?

Here's what she says to me.  This is a highly intelligent white woman.  She says that I am very closed-minded because I watch only MSNBC, CBS, ABC etc etc etc and she watches FOX NEWS.

I'm close-minded?  HOW can ANY person watch that swill without throwing up?  How ?  ???

I guess she's  addicted to Fox  similar to being addicted to soap operas.

That this person gathers their information from a single, biased source makes it ironic that they would accuse anyone else of closed-mindedness

I’m sure there are other areas where you and your friend share common ground. Focus on these. Trying to dissuade one from their politics has ended many a friendship.

Same here.  We don't discuss politics, which is how we manage to get through all our family dinners without anyone having to go to the emergency room.

I know, Ms. Pearl.  I know.  She's a great person, it's hard to put the two together.

Oh well.   She has so many good qualities, I have to think of her now when I think of Trump's base instead of calling them all ignorant hillbillies.  Not true.

I have a son that is a Donald Trump supporter and sometimes I wonder were I went wrong as a parent. He lives in Saskatchewan and there are a lot of Trump supporters there so that is a reason for his view plus it's about 100 below zero there so his mind must get numb. Besides Trump we have a lot of mutual interests so we focus on them and try not to bring up the T word. Cheers!

That is the SANE way to not let Trump and his ideas infiltrate all of our relationships.

  • Your friend will need a good friend when all is said and done....or, if she wises up  before then.  Until then, just smile and nod..and probably avoiding political conversation is best.  I feel your pain though.  Many of us do.
