It's a good thing you never saw The Uninvited (1944).  I made the very grave error of watching that movie one summer night on American Movie Classics at home, in the dark, all alone while I was in high school... B I G  M I S T A K E ! ! !

"The Uninvited" title took me a bit to remember. But I took a look just now in youtube and watched about a minute of the trailer for the movie -- I've seen it. That movie really scared me, too! I don't remember how old I was when I saw it but I remember how creepy and scary it was to me!

(I also saw some movie from 2009 advertised with the same title -- it didn't grab my interest at all. don't know if it's a remake or not.)

I also remember The Uninvited movie from 2009.  I just googled it and it takes place in a psychiatric hospital so definitely not a remake.

It isn't familiar to me.  I probably would not have been allowed to see a horror film at my age in 63.

When I saw it, it was being shown as a late-night movie on a regular TV station. I forget the year I saw it, but obviously quite a while after 63 since they were showing it on regular TV.
I admit I was young. I had sneaked downstairs late at night to specifically watch it in secret.

Indeed I did.  It actually used to run quite frequently here on channel 54 throughout the late 80s and early 90s.
