If there were an award given for the most racist state it would be a southern one right? Would Mississippi win hands down ?

Or are there southern states just as bad if not worse? A source of great pride to the racists I expect.

Southwest clear across the Pacific. Australians are shocking - not all of us, but too many of us.

Oh no! Say it ain't so Joe! Aussies have a problem with racism too?  You know Sbf of all the countries in the world I would guess that Australia and Canada are least racist. Why that is I don't know for sure except that I really like Aussies and Canadians. At least the ones with whom I've engaged are as far away from that as possible and I expect I just extrapolated to include all of the breed. It saddens me. I've read problems in France are huge with regard to that. I think the UK also is facing problems of a similar nature. So another idol has clay feet? Dam*! :( Thank you for your reply . Asking where it (racism)began and why it continues is silly. Who could possibly answer THAT?

America and Australia were both colonised by outcasts. Riff-raff who had been denigrated by England forever, and needed somebody to feel superior to. British America (which became the USA) imported slaves from Africa and slaughtered the natives. So did Australia - less of the slavery (not from Africa but a limited number of Pacific Islanders, mostly Melanesian) but more of the genocide. The aborigines didn't have a culture of warfare, or the acquisitive greed of the European invaders - the concept of private ownership of land was entirely foreign to them. They weren't even granted citizenship until 1967. South Africa was at least honest about it. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at November 26, 2018 7:15 AM MST

Riff-raff you say? So the murderers and rapists and terrorists and bad guys to which the john of don refers today actually is true except it happened centuries ago? The Mayflower was full of them? Well they aren't MY ancestors at all being as how I am of Armenian ancestry.  But all the WASPS who feel superior have ancestral riff-raff and outcasts to thank for their beginnings? That explains a lot doesn't it? A lot. Apartheid was honest open racism. South Africa was honestly and openly racist. I guess they should get an award for honesty then. Boy sometimes the truth will set you free and sometimes it haunts you and makes you feel very bad and sad. Thank you for the info Sbf. Outcasts and riff-raff began the great US of A experiment. What do you get from outcasts and riff-raff? Not a whole lot that's good. :(

"Aussies have a problem with racism too?"

Some of the same people born and bred in the United States who are shockingly ignorant about world history, world geography, worldwide economics, worldwide culture, heck, almost anything beyond their own belly buttons, are also deeply so ignorant as to assume that the term "racism" only and narrowly and singularly refers to problems between white people in the United States of America and black people in the United States of America. Instead of knowing that an entire world exists outside of their celebrity gossip and me-ism, they plod along blissfully unaware that since the dawn of man and continuing today, almost any one ethnicity or sub-ethnicity of people has had or still has acrimony with at least one or more other such group. There is no utopic place on earth that has never suffered racism. Some racial problems have dissipated or even disappeared, but not all.
