This is an old movie but my absolute favorite, Seven brides for seven brothers. I also have a few John Wayne movies to go to if I want. The Cowboys or McLintock. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I watched Gone with the wind.
I saw that movie for the first time at a drive-in standing in the back of my Dad's old Ford pickup. It's been a favorite since then. It's the only movie John Wayne died in. I was told that John Wayne told Bruce Dern, after that scene that he just became the most hated man in America because he killed "The Duke".
John Wayne's characters died in many of his movies:
Central Airport The Deceiver The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance The Sands of Iwo Jima The Fighting Seabees The Wake of the Red Witch Reap the Wild Wind The Alamo The Shootist
Maybe what I learned or was told, it was the first movie that he was actually killed. In the others, like the shootist, it was known that he would die and you didn't actually see it.
It generally depends on my mood and the week I have had. My go-to movies are quite often Mel Brooks, old Neil Simon, or Woody Allen films. I can't pick just one because it depends on too many things. Sometimes a good Dirty Harry movie is just what I need, too.
"The Last Crusade". I certainly don't watch it every weekend, but I watch it probably more than any other movie in my collection, about two or three times a year
