We have this country we call China. In Chinese that means "middle kingdom".
Oh, and at one time there was a tree of life. It was an electrical phenomenon and a lot of tribes all around the world recall it. Some thought it looked like a conical tree, fir or pine or something like that. Some thought it looked like a mountain and they built pyramids to preserve the shape. The Chinese thought it looked like a stack of clouds.
I said electrical effect up there. Well, another electrical effect was equatorial rings. All the other planets have rings, you know. Well the Earth had them too, and the spokes looked like weeds in a lake. Most tribes called them "sea of confusion". The Chinese saw heaven in the north at the top of a pile of nine clouds, and hell in the south sky, so they named their land "middle kingdom".
And that's how we got pyramids and May poles and Christmas trees and ... Oh, we don't have rings and tree of life any more, do we? They all came down and tribes all over the world recorded the event as Noah's flood.
It's all in the name. While most of the Clouds were located in rural and mountainous areas, Cloud Nine was situated in a very busy metropolitan district. At first nearly everyone thought that this cloud was doomed to fail due to its location (it was even called 'Smog Nine' for a time). Surprisingly, the Cloud became very popular, especially with the younger folks. Celebrity endorsements made it even more popular. By the end of the first year, more people had been on cloud Nine than all the other clouds combined. By the middle of its second year of operation, it had become a mecca for the rich and famous. Everyone wanted to be on cloud nine, hoping to "run elbows with the elite. Thus it was said that being on Cloud Nine was the best experience ever. While several of the other Clouds ceased operation over the years, Cloud Nine continues to be a very popular place to be.
Phoenix, AZ used to have a restaurant called Cloud Nine. It was on top of a small mountain, of which Phoenix has a lot. It caught fire and the fire trucks couldn't get up the hill, so it was totally destroyed.
