Any thoughts or feelings on The Weekly Standard shutting down?

It was one of the few conservative outlets that was consistently anti-Trump, and some believe that contributed to its demise.

WHO CARES?  If conservatives are silly enough to laud their boring views to the world, they had better have something more to offer than just hating Trump or whatever.

Dinosaurs should be put out to pasture.    Just calling yourself conservative in this day and age, equates to progressives putting their hands over their eyes and ears.

And what, pray tell, does the left have to offer other than "just hating Trump or whatever?"

They don't have much of anything to offer it seems but there's still hope. :) This post was edited by rusureamisure? at December 18, 2018 4:46 PM MST

When the founder joined MSNBC was a good indication the magazine was gonna go downhill. And it's never-Trump position definition put some nails in that coffin.

Oh yeah.  That's why everyone on MSNBC is headed for an early grave, RIGHT?

Get real.  I'm sure MSNBC kept him on to give an equal side to the opposition.  Something FOX NEWS could NEVER do, since no one of any worth would even tread there.

Not everyone, just those who claim to be conservative.

Fox has liberals. Juan Williams, Shepherd Smith, Geraldo and others. This post was edited by my2cents at December 18, 2018 7:48 AM MST

I don't know about an early grave but it has an arm and a leg in it right now and still able to flail about. :)

I wasn't a reader, so it doesn't affect me at all.

I may be wrong here (wouldn't be the first time if I am) but I think the shutting down of the Weekly Standard has more to do with infighting, power struggles, and pettiness than it being openly critical of President Trump.
