A privateer is a privately owned boat that is commissioned by the government to attack boats flying the flag of an enemy nation, or more often, to attack pirate ships.

Privatize is a newly minted verb meaning to transfer a business or service from public to private ownership and control.

A privatizer is someone that wants to have private companies take over services typically provided by government. A privateer is essentially a pirate that has legal permission, through a letter of marque, to harrass and rob enemy ships at sea. Not really sure how you'd confuse the two.
