Do you often look at caller ID and not answer?

If I didn't look every time I would be answering at least half a dozen spam calls a day!

I haven't set up caller ID on my landline phone, but I have always had an unlisted number, so the robo calls and spam calls are few.

    I don't have a landline.
If there is a call to my cellphone, and it isn't someone in my directory ... and I'm not expecting a call ... I disconnect the call before it goes to voicemail.

  • I look at Caller ID and answer, "Radiology, may I help you?.     Made a big difference - I rarely get unwanted calls now.

    Seriously, on my cell phone
if I don't recognize the caller ID,
I do not answer....99.9% of the time
    it is something to avoid.
If they need to get me a msg...
    no problem leave a MSG

Most of the time. There are a few places that call and the ID says unknown caller and it really is a business I needed to speak with. One was a clinic who hung up on twice. Oops.

  • We have Nomorobo on our landline and mobile lines.  That gets rid of a lot of nuisance callers.  If some numbers that I don't know get through .. I usually don't pick up and just wait for them to leave a message.  If they don't, then it probably wasn't anything important anyway.

  • I talk by text so if somebody calls it goes to the automated message that says this mailbox has not been set up.

Why be rude? Have your message advise that you don't know how to talk on a telephone but welcome them to text.

  • I’m not being rude just because I choose not to answer phone calls. There’s no law that says you have to answer.

I do now, since a business I signed up with calls me constantly.  6 calls just today.  They call from strange numbers or a number that shows their name.  This has been going on for months.  Now I've had enough.  I will be logging the calls daily and in a couple of months I'll file a restraining order against them. They want me to sign up for a service they offer.  I have declined more than once but they won't stop hounding me.  I even called the main number and complained, the calls keep coming.

Always.  I only have a landline and 99.999% of the calls on it are SPAM.

I google the number. Most of the time it is not found. All the other calls come from the grade school in the next town, so I call and tell them to remove the number from their records.

Don't have caller ID on our home phone.
We just handle each call as appropriate.
