I think 50 can be old or it can be young. I've seen some really young 50 year olds, but I've seen a lot of OLD 30 year olds too. It's all about how you feel .. physically and your outlook at life.
Today, 50 can really be middle age with people living longer.
I know the character, but I was hoping you could give some insight into your "golden years". I know yours are great, big boat and all, but what about the "closer to than farther from" part? What do you think about these days? Is it all vanity?
I stay focused on keeping busy, getting the most of each day. Fortunately, I am blessed with an amazing wife, and the means (and toys) to do the things I enjoy. I don’t consider pursuing my passions as vanity. I leave it to others to define it as they will.
I think a lot about my mortality, as I am closer to 70 than to 40, and I see my friends enduring the weight of their years. But age is still mostly a state of mind right now, because my health is still very good. I play tennis, golf and softball. I swim almost daily. I meditate. I fish a lot. Reading is intrinsic to my daily existence to keep the gray matter in tune. Accordingly, I find amusement in imparting my brand of wisdom (such as it is) to those who will lend an ear to it, on this site, and elsewhere. I love a good conversation.
It is my sincere wish that everyone has a chance, at some point, to come to a place in their lives that is comparable to (or even better than) the aptly named ”golden years“ I awaken to each day.
