Non-drinkers among us, what are some of the main reasons you don't consume alcohol? ~

Some of mine (in no particular order) are:

I've tried it and don't like the aftermath
I don't like the taste of any alcoholic beverage I've ever tried
I think a lot of people drink because they have to or believe they have to: I do not
The marketing industry and advertising campaigns are ineffective against me
I saw some ugly things in my family as I was growing up that were alcohol-related

It's quite simple for me. When I don't have a taste for it, I don't drink it. Right now I want a beer really badly, but I have absolute control over this particular urge. This post was edited by Zack at February 3, 2019 6:39 AM MST

Based on your answer, does that make you a drinker or a non-drinker?

    A non-drinker. Not even socially.

  • I don't need to drink to feel good or be social.  I may have a glass of wine a few times a year at holiday dinners. But never finish the glass as it bothers my stomach and I don't really like the taste.  Cold beer in the summer would be a treat but unless my guy is with me I don't have any.  Alcohol problems plagued the men in my family so it may just be an hidden turnoff.

I have two problems. The first is I like it. I don't know when to stop. Whatever is in the house is one serving. The second is I resent spending my own money on something that only makes me stupid. Oh, and then there is the tax. All in all it's a big nope.

So that means you're a drinker, correct?

I've had to take meds all my life and alcohol does NOT mix with they (whatsoever!).  So I have never touched the stuff.

Tell that to the bra staff and they will laugh at you...
They never get eye contact with me when they serve me.....They must be true professionals as well as they never spill a drop...come to that...neither do eye...:)D
Least I can't see where I have , but do know that my toes are still dry....hehe

  • I'm a non-drinker.  I grew up with an alcoholic parent and grandparents and wanted to stop that cycle.  My sister and I do not drink.  Pretty simple.

Because it doesn't take much to have me puking and getting migraines. I think it's because I'm just so tiny.

I could stomach a rum and coke if I wanted but I don't want; I would rather just have a diet coke.  I never drink alcohol.  I average having a drink every 10 years or so.  I had a drink with friends in 1992 and drank at my daughter's wedding in 2002 and I had a couple of drinks with Answerbag friends in 2010.  I do not want to ever feel altered like a second drink makes me feel.  I hate that.  I like being around me.
