If you were out swiming in the Ocean and a Octopus attacked you,how would you de'feet it and render it armless...?

This quandary has puzzled me for years...:(

    I would try to be disarming (I hear octopi are suckers for that kind of thing).

    I know I'm still blonde but even I know they can't walk themselve....I know they are no lazy either ,as they love getting stuck into things when they are out and about....   :)D

    Getting a grip on the situation before I get sucked in - How large is said sucker? 

    If was a small one I would surface and head to the dive boat
    Larger than small use my dive knife after I had gotten the sucker by the neck and start making open ocean sashimi, after the ink sak is released if you do not have control of the neck you be dead
