Less than one % in England have such things.... We need them to keep the bugs out and let the air in.... They have them everywhere in Greece though.....:(
Most new homes do not have screen doors. (At least in my area) It is kind of annoying. Who wants to leave their front door wide open? I believe screens are still on windows though.
It must be a common building technic otherwise there would be no need for these products:
I hadn't noticed, but every home here has them. No joke, but generally speaking the ones here who don't have them are tweakers.

I never noticed this in the movie until I recently watched an interview with actress Veronica Cartwright - - at the time, she mentioned her concern to Hitchcock that there was no door they were opening to walk through. :)

I agree with my2! Most newer homes just don't have screen/storm doors anymore. We have a newer home and had them installed on our doors first thing. It's better for security and energy savings!
I think newer homes are more about decorative doors than anything else.
True ... I'd love a door like that. But I guess I'm too practical to give up the safety of that extra door between me and whoever is at my door when I open it.
