Quiz: Are You A Grammar Nerd? Here's What It Says About You According To Science

Sorry. I though I found the perfect quiz for all the grammar nazis here. Turns out the quiz must be wrong according to my results. Anyway, have fun if... Yada, yada, yada... And stay out of it if yada, yada, yada. Share your results and the following description below in the comments. Link: http://www.playbuzz.com/emmab929/are-you-a-grammar-nerd-heres-what-is-says-about-you-according-to-science Me: 100% Grammar Nerd! Your knowledge of the English language and its nuances is incredible. You know every little grammar rule there is and you continue learning all the time. That's why it also annoys you so much when people make grammar mistakes. Doesn't it? So, what does this say about your personality? A scientific study shows that most of you are introverts. You may have more sensitivity to variability. If you are not an introvert you are an extrovert and love to talk all the time. Therefore you do not mind fixings someone's grammar, even when they are telling a story. Overall, you have a gift. The English language is incredibly difficult and you are one of the few who completely understands the technicalities behind it, congratulations and keep correcting people! It cannot be correct. Sorry.

    100% Grammar Nerd!

Although I prefer "Grammar Enthusiast". Leave "Grammar Nerd" to the ones who compulsively correct people. ;-)

  • Grammar Nerds are fine.

Grammar Nazis are bullies and should be dealt with accordingly.

It's true, I am basically introverted and sensitive to variability, it does annoy me when people make grammar mistakes and I do tend to correct people.

Sapphic Heart, you got the same result as I did, yet you say it cannot be correct. What's wrong with it?

I'm neither. To me it's more important what people have to say than if they do it fully correct.

I still don't understand how I could get those 100%. Lol.

Yes!  It's true!  I really do know the rules even though I don't follow them when I talk or write.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your grammar, SH, although I did notice one or two typos ("though" instead of "thought" and an "e" missing from "surprised"). I assumed each was just an oversight. You certainly don't come across as one of those annoying apes who deliberately use "your" instead of "you're" or "here" instead of "hear" just to provoke a reaction from so-called"Grammar Nerds". Why, then, do you doubt your own results from the quiz?

Corrected the missing e as I still could, thank you. The spelling help isn't always that great a help. Lol. I doubt my results as I know I'm not 100% perfect in my grammar. And you're correct, my mistakes won't be deliberately to annoy anyone. :-)

  • They don't contribute to the content of the thread and seek to harass or embarrass users who may not even be communicating in their primary language.

There are all kind of different approaches. Some will be perceived as bullies and true, they pay little attention to whether our primary language is English or not. I've met them. I've met others that kindly where trying to help. Like anything else in life, it's no black or white. It's all about the will to truly communicate or not. I know immediately there will be no constructive communication when someone is trying to belittling me because of my English. They show no effort or true interest in a dialogue. They show their own lack within communication, and I feel no shame being less perfect than they might be. I know who the greater person of us will be.

I don't think that is their primary intention, charface. Their main intention is to point out (usually in a schooteacher-like manner) something that is obviously wrong. They simply treat other users as equal, which excludes discriminating, therefore whether they are communicating in their primary language or not is neither here nor there. That doesn't sound like the definition of a "bully" to me.

ON THE OTHER HAND, those who deliberately use incorrect grammar for the sole purpose of taunting "Grammar Nazis" are definitely bullies, as well as trolls. Now those creatures definitely should be dealt with accordingly. Possibly even worse are those who think it is "funny" to deliberately taunt "Grammar Nazis" in such manner. There is definitely no "humour" in such behaviour.
