Until Ross Perot ran for president, the phrase "you people" was a simple description of a group of people. Now it's a racist term. Silly people, we humans.
The references I found about 4 years ago when I had a reason to look it up implied that Perot made it obvious.
I frankly was unaware of it until someone accused me of using it as a racial comment about 6 years ago.
I was raised Catholic---I was taught that all men were equal and that skin color and physiognomy were (what I would later learn to call) accidental forms that provided delightful differences in all us humans.
And I still believe that was God's small extra gift to us humans that so few of us actually appreciate.
