I have no idea what kind of shot he has. He may live to be 100. BUT he would turn 80 his first year and then end two terms at 87? I mean c'mon. Isn't that pushing it more than a little bit?
Kennedy was the youngest President elected, at age 43. But Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest President, at age 42. (When he became President after McKinley's assassination.)
I think candidates for federal offices (Congress, President, Judges) should be required to disclose their medical records. We should know if they have a history of addictions, dementia, or whatever health/mental issues that may affect their performance while in office. And there should be random drug testing.
Don't airline pilots have to retire at age 55? Mental acuity does decline as we age. For some a lot more than for others. But pilots have people's lives in their hands. A librarian can be 80 and if the mind goes south no one is gonna die. Don't you think there should be an outer limit age-wise to run for prez Walt? I'm gonna ask. Thank you for your thoughtful reply! ;)
Much as I like Bernie, I believe him to be unelectable. His age is one factor, unlike Trump he'll take tge job seriously and the stress of it may well kill him. Jimmy Carter looked drawn and haggard after just one term and he was considerably younger. Another factor is the flavour of his politics - the specter of Joe McCarthy still haunts Congress and anyone significantly to the left of center is branded a Commie. What's needed is a younger moderate. I'd like to see Tammy Duckworth step up to the plate.
