Well I would have to ask them a skill testing question first, Maybe something like - What has 2 thumbs and a  long weekend? If they don't answer with - This Guy - then I'll assume that there a bot. Cheers and happy weekend!

There are not bots on here that I ever noticed.   I can't tell.  Are you one?  You are awfully polite for a bot.

  • I wouldn't name names....that could hurt some feeling and start some arguments.

The only way a bot would be "beneficial" to someone here would be if they were using it to spam the site. They aren't smart enough to get in the door.

  • Ha, well thank you Q,
What a nice thing to say.
No, I'm not a bot, Q, although would I be able to tell if I was?

  • I know Just,
But think, AI will inevitably get to the point where it would be if not impossible, very difficult for us to detect. Virtual companions and girlfriends are already not a rare occurrence.
Would you be able to tell?
    What test would you use?

Hmm... the only virtual girlfriend service I'm aware of is a "spoof" service that hires real women to portray a girlfriend, so the guy looks like he has one to the outside world. I don't know of any that are truly AI.

But, you can tell the difference in computer communication versus human. Even Siri has her quirks. Her language doesn't flow naturally. She doesn't understand a lot of what people say. It's cool tech, but it lacks so many human qualities, there's just no way they'd blend... not with any kind of ongoing dialogue.

  • I think you miss the scope of what I'm saying. You are assuming the current state of AI as it's final end and it's limitations set in stone.
The present limitations of the technology do not point to its future.
It's been years since Deep Blues Victory, and although we could argue that Deep Blue doesn't "think" right, it surely didn't look like that to Garry Kasparov.
I do understand what you're saying tho, I may have not worded the question right.
    Ty for responding.
