Not exactly compost, but I throw my coffee grounds and crushed egg shells in one spot where nothing grows. I used to put the grounds around the foundation to repel ants, but the ants seem to be pretty well behaved now. I guess you could say they got ground out.
In Montreal, where I believe you said you live, it’s illegal to throw any recyclable item in the trash. Not just food waste. You can be fined up to $2000 for doing so. And yes, I recycle everything that I can. They give us a compost bin that gets picked up same day as trash, so it’s not really a big deal.
I have a compost pit I just toss it it. It was a huge pit my sister and I dug as children, we liked to fill it with water and play in the mud. My parents weren't happy to discover the pit, but they ended up turning it into a fire pit and now we use it for compost.
There is no room where I live to compost anything. I have no room to plant

My husband mostly eats any leftovers we have. We don't compost .. but we do recycle. We just don't have any place to use compost where we live. We can't put out any scrap food items in the yard because it could attract bears, coyotes, racoons or other unwanted animals to our subdivision.
