Eh, people we see or hear. Takes not much... Putting on the news will cover a lot when listening to some of the politicians.

    Thanks ozzie. :-)

This is dum. Most people have no idea what religion is, but they think they are fully qualified to choose one. Then they scold God because He says something different.

I think most people doesn't choose a religion, they are given one by birth. Some will turn away from the one they were born to but that's another discussion. One way to get an idea about religions, is to study them or at least pay them a little interest. I'm not sure if this QUIZ will help people getting a greater inspiration to look into other religions but maybe they won't be as afraid of that they don't know. As for you, you don't have to take part. As I mentioned inside my question, stay out of it IF you don't like these kind of quizzes. Bye.

  • Jewels, the quiz is purely for fun, as they all are.

No one here is taking the results of the quiz as meaning anything real or serious. And no post in this string of responses has said a single word for or against God - I tripple-checked. Certainly no one has scolded God.

This is a site where people have the freedom to express their beliefs, thoughts, doubts, questions, experiences and humour fairly freely. (trolling not permitted)

But if they had (scolded God), since He is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, we would only be capable of having these discussions because he gave humanity free will, creativity and intelligence. He had to have known what he was doing and how the future would develop. Not one thing can occur without his awareness of it. He may impose hell after death on those who choose to ignore or deny him, or he may have deliberately set up the conditions that would lead inevitably to the Apocalypse and Armageddon. But if this is so, then it is by his will. It was he who set up the original freedom of choice.

Actually, I am an atheist, but I am trying to find a way of speaking to you in ways I imagine might be acceptable to you. I am guessing you are probably a Christian, though I could not yet guess your denomination.

The word religion in Oxford, Webster, and Macquarie specifies organised belief in a God or gods and doctrines and usually encodes a set of precepts or ethics - so that is the meaning accepted by millions of people throughout the English-speaking world. The meaning is also the same in European languages, China, Japan and many other countries. If you went to Iran the state would inform you that Islam is the only true faith.

It is true that a great mass of people can be just as collectively mistaken as anyone individual, and not know it. However religion, as it is defined in dictionaries across most of the globe, is a matter of widely disputed sources of authority and evidence, and occupies the professional lives of many experts.

The quiz does not touch even the tip of the tip of knowledge about religions. It covers the surface to garner only a scrap of general knowledge. And yet it is fun. It can show us something of what we know and don't know about the beliefs of others.

  • Indeed, and since enlightenment is the beginning of wisdom, there's no way that succeeding in a fact quiz could be proof of it. But then these quizzes are just for fun - so what the heck, hey? :)

  • I have a bit of a problem with the word "dumbass" because I'm not sure if it means simply uneducated or unthoughtful, as may often be the case, or if it means neurologically unable to learn.

Yes, I believe is is possible, though possibly rare. Imagine a person who has lived a long life doing a simple job, perhaps a cobbler or potter, with little or no education but a lot of natural compassion. Life goes by. Every kind of emotion is experienced through the life processes. The events between members of the family and in the local village and community are witnessed and felt. A person like that can develop a deep understanding of human nature, can see cause and effect, can see that certain actions are more likely to produce beneficial or harmful results, and can use this awareness to help guide others to preferable choices and actions if and when they are receptive to it. I call that wisdom.

I cannot lie to you.   I did SO bad I am embarrassed.  Especially in light of the fact that I always think I know so much about religion.  I DO NOT.  I sucked.  LOL

I think I got almost 1/2 of them wrong.  I got 8 wrong, I think.  GOD.

It is within trivia, and nonetheless we do believe in God(s) or not (my case it's the latter) it is a part of history, and thereby also the cultural background given to most of people around the world. Existence or non-existence isn't that important in this context as people do believe and its the truth for them.

All this said, this question is based on a quiz. Nothing else, a quiz on trivia. Some find it fun. To call it dum is a personal perception, and okay. BUT as I stated inside my question, I'm aware that not all do like my quizzes. Some will burst inside them with negative comments although I've told them they DON'T have to participate if they cannot find the fun. Why sabotage the fun for others? Rhetorical question, it seems being a driver for some of the members around. I haven't asked one question without someone getting inside the quiz to not take part in the primary aim of the quiz, but to one way or another tell me how dum, stupid, little importance or whatever it is.

It's rather simple: IF people don't like quizzes, stay the hell out of them. Even greater reason will it be if they find them dum. This is what I oppose towards Jewels and their comment.

Last comment I had to this subject. I'm tired of people who cannot see things for what they are. I don't want to waste more of my time on them. Over and out on this thread from my side.

  • It is fun Saphie, for most of us who do participate - and I like it that you are adding something light into our diet.

Sorry about those curmudgeonly grumps. We can dance in spite of them.

Education comes, and can be obtained in a variety of ways. Education of life is certainly as important if not more than any education at the school bench. Without life experience and the ability to put in our knowledge we are less wise. Thank you for your thoughts, Hartfire. A pleasure reading as always. :-)

Only shows your common knowledge within this trivia wasn't as good as you maybe had hoped for. Don't take it for more than it is. It's a quiz, and your true knowledge around various religions might be far beyond that of the rest of us. Take care, and thanks taking part.

I'm enlightened!  14 out of 15!  The wrong answer only entered my consciousness once but I guessed right on all the other ones I didn't know!
