Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Little donny d wants a 6th branch of the military...A SPACE FORCE. Former astronaut Mark Kelly says the idea is DUMB. You say?
We'll need one at some point in the future. China is planning on establishing a base on the moon - contrary to international agreements. Americans are planning on establishing colonies on Mars.
We *could* expand the territory of the Air Force ... but operating in space requires so much extra training, it will probably be a much smaller force. More along the lines of a Special Forces branch.
I would vote for Space Marines. Hoo-RAH!

My dad was a Marine in WW1! If I'd been a guy I wouldda tried out to be a Marine too. Don't know if I would have had the RIGHT STUFF to make it through. But I wouldda tried. No bone spur crap for me. Thank you for your reply Walt!. Draft dodgers who are obscenely wealthy and privileged and LIE to screw their country disgust me. That one of them is prez is reprehensible. Do they disgust thee as well?

Eh ... I take a wide view of "draft dodging". It's been around since before the founding of America. People could pay someone else to take their place, until the Selective Service Act was passed for WW1.
Plus, the people who get us into war rarely actually go into combat. In fact, the Selective Service Act exempted federal and state officials from conscription. (Gee, I wonder how that happened) So why should the common person feel they have to? Especially if the person doesn't believe in the causes of the war.
Of course, people should also accept the consequences of their choices. And if someone avoided serving in the military during fighting - they should at least try to avoid getting us in another military situation.
Different strokes. It disgusts me greatly. The poor serve their country. The wealthy SOB's lie to get out of serving their country. What is wrong with this picture? EVERYTHING. I know money buys anything you want including being a coward and letting others carry the weight you should carry. I am not impressed. What DOES impress me? Someone like John F. Kennedy. He did not buy his way out of serving his country. Or John McCain though I am not as aware of any wealth he might have been born to. The obscene wealthy draft diodgersy are whinya** cowards all of them. And then to make things incredibly more disgusting the Whinya** coward with "bone spurs" attacks the real heroes? That I cannot abide. You may take it all in stride. I do not. Maybe guys and gals react differently to cowardice. I don't know Walt. Sigh. My dad served 3 tours in the Marines in WW1. He wasn't rich. But he was also born in Izmir, Turkey and fled to America to survive. A naturalized citizen serves his country with pride and love. A bonehead bonespur obscenely wealthy coward doesn't. You figger it out. SIGH. Thank you for your reply.

JFK was almost as brazen as Slick Willy as far as his conquest of women was concerned. Ike and Obama were able to do the job and be decent human beings as well.
Well right now I think he should be creating a cyber force to clean up all the virus Russia and China might have installed on American computers. Trumps new budget includes cuts to NASA so Trumps Space Force talk is just hot air. Cheers!
I agree that there's a bigger threat to national security from foreign hacking, especially where it concerns the military. I haven't seen anything that contains any detail with regard to the Space Force, i.e., it's mission, so I can't rule it out right now. I do believe that at some point, we would want to get ahead of China and Russia in terms of their ability to one day destroy Earth as we know it. Or, we could just wait until Global Warming does it's job and takes care of it for them.
