It isn't as weird a feeling as you might make it out to be, let me assure you.
Yup
Happy... NO.
I wouldn't feel happiness even if it was my worst enemy.
I have felt very sad and at times relieved because they were suffering terribly and no one deserves to suffer that way.. its unbearable to see... let alone to suffer it.
GREAT seeing you here. Crazy summer for me, but good to get back on and chat with some of my favorite peeps. :)
:)
Yes, when they have been suffering and there is no cure - old age, cancer, situations like that.
I really don't know how to respond, so I'll just say
That's a nice outlook, PeaPod.
Exactly, when you think about it, it's not worth the effort.
I have expected it, but I've never been happy about it.
Yes, death can be a relief in such cases, not only to the sufferer but also to the family and caregivers.
I have a cousin by marriage who was raped and abused as a young girl by a horrible man. She is 26 now, and 5 months ago that man died. I am happy because his death has done so much good for her. He had been in prison because he had done a lot of crimes, but for her she never felt free of him until he was dead. She is happy he is dead and I am sure his other victims feel similar relief and for that I am happy too. It has not been half a year but already it has made such a huge change in her life and she is doing so well now.
I can well empathise with her and the trauma that burdened her for years.
Not been raped, but there's a man whose death I most certainly rejoiced. The news of his recent death evoked the question I posted.
No, I have felt great relief for them, knowing their suffering has ended. (Eclesiástes 9:5,10)
