Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Which prez cared more about the people (excluding the wealthy) and did more for the people (excluding the wealthy)?
He was a socially privileged wealthy elite. He wasn't a "man of the people" in the usual sense. He created many ways to put people to work. Thank you for your replying as you did. I was a little girl when I heard over the radio his "day of infamy" announcement about Pearl Harbor. I was "helping" my mom with the laundry. The radio was in the kitchen and whatever show was on got interrupted for an announcement by the president. We were in the laundry room right off the kitchen and the volume went up when the prez began to speak. I didn't really understand what was going on but I knew it was very bad because my mom started quietly weeping. That day lives in infamy in my mind. But I digress. SIGH. Again. SIGH. :(

You have TWICE "excluded the wealthy"! But why exclude us? Why treat us as though we are "the other"? The wealthy are just the same as you except they have more money. The only difference. You don't seem to understand that everyone is all in this together. What hurts "the wealthy" will eventually hurt you. What benefits them is good for all of us. The Bible says the poor will always be with us. That is true of the wealthy as well. Why not make friends and learn from each other? That is the way it used to be when we were younger.
Obviously, "The People" felt that FDR benefited them greatly ... or they would not have elected him to FOUR terms.
Even if the term-limit legislation hadn't been passed by Congress in 1947, I don't know if we've had a President since then with that kind of popularity.
