I have no idea what the heck you are even saying here.  Is looking up an answer to copy/paste cheating?

    That is the whole site.

    That is what we DO.

The World's Smallest Police Station” came into being on March 10, 1963. The city had been having problems with tourists making unauthorized long distance phone calls on its police phone. The phone was located in a call box that was bolted to a building at the corner of U.S. 98 and Tallahassee Street.

I think I GOT THAT PART, NJ.  I am talking about the ending of that question.  What does the request to KEEP STUM mean?

That takes more than a scientist, that takes a linguist.  And I DID answer you.  But apparently I am cheating.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 4, 2019 11:49 AM MDT

    OHhhhh Now I get it.

Not a rocket linguist.  At least not with your idioms.  But I love 'em.  So keep posting them.  They are very different than American idioms.

  • BS.  Call it that all you want.  A phone booth is not a station.  A station has officers in it.  They station there.

It was constructed in 1805 ,long before telephones were invented....
A policeman was stationed in it and turned on a light so summon other officers to help...
If you want to rewrite history ,that's ok with me...I don't think many others will take much notice of you though...

It's not all that uncommon for very small communities.  We (AT&T) used to have pay phone service that allowed the pay station to receive calls.  So very small businesses often would opt for that kind of service for their business...think gasoline station or neighborhood store.  They didn't mind paying for their own outgoing calls and the incoming ones cost them nothing. • It is a booth with a one way phone in it that isn't a station a station is where police station themselves and their equipment.  That is a direct line TO a police station.

    Lets have words mean things.

It was seventy years built before the very first telephone was invented and used.....maybe the telephone Boxs were invented first and then have to wait until technology caught up .... Electricity  was discovered in 1879....and years later ,Nelson telephone Box  finally got used for what it got designed for....

Where do they put the prisoners?   That is torture if they have to squeeze everybody in there.  Maybe the rumor that you guys have little crime is actually true then.

Nice jugs I would think currently the one around the corner from the Samurai Museum Tokyo.  One desk, sliding window two holding cells both former call boxes, a parking pad big enough for a Van and Squad Car.  This is by Shinjuku Station

    Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo Kabukicho 2-25-6

Now imagine being squeezed between 5 strips Clubs, a Brothel or two and the Samurai Museum where the window looks at 5 of the establishments.  In the Station there is a full sized police station 250 meters away
