Discussion»Questions»Food and Drink» Does anyone really like the taste of beer? Or you just drink it cos you want to be cool like those frat guys and one day maybe wear a toga?
My parents took us to get cans from a local beach every Sunday (after the Friday and Saturday night parties) to take to the recycling center. Digging through the 50-gallon drums to get all the beer cans ... UGH! So Yeah, I liked the money we made ... but now I can't stand the smell of grain alcohol.
I have to be in a very weird mood to want to drink a beer. Usually it's when i have mexian food on my mind. That happened a year ago and I bought a beer and put it in my refrigerator. I didn't get the food and the beer is still in the refrigerator.
I guess like anything it is an acquired taste. But the best ones for me are those which have a lot of taste to enjoy. Which I'm not sure everybody does. They more just grab a cold beverage and if I am going to do that I go for my white wine. But a lot of the so-called craft or microbrews are very good and drinking them is like a festival for your taste. Maybe every three weeks I will have a beer from what I sometimes buy to try. Or someone will recommend a particular one and if I remember that I might buy some.
I’ve never tried any of that craft stuff. I don’t like white wine either. If I want a cold alcohol bevarage I’ll just have Mixed drink or vodka cooler. I love red wine though.
If you like red wine, I can definitely expand your horizons---and I'll bring some red wine with me for afterward....
(And a glass of a Montrachet while watching the sun rise may change your opinion of white wine....)

I did not like beer when I was in grade school. I liked it more and more as I went through high school and I never stopped liking it. Sweet drinks get tiresome after a while so I'll start drinking V-8, beer and lime juice by themselves or in just about any combination of the three ingredients you can come up with.
I remember when I was going to pubs around 19ish a friend and I would get a pitcher of beer ( cos only 7 dollars) and a tall glass of bar lime to throw in it. We only drank it cos cheap and used the lime to try and make it tolerable.
I do like beer---but I only drink it with pizza and spicy food.
A Dos Equis on tap is by far my favorite. Coors will do in a pinch. Heineken was my favorite when I was about 15 years younger.
(And I think lite / light beer of any brand is a dastardly merchandising trick by beer producers.)
(And a lime in a beer is a sacrilege---lol.)
I love mexican food, especially with jalapenos and spicy food in general. Only milk and beer are capable of dissolving the fire of the Capsecum plant family. and I would consider it a sign of disrespect were I to use something as ordinary and pedestrian as milk to accompany such a fine meal.
