Do you remember your first R rated movie?

I was 15 and so were my friends. We went to watch An officer and a gentleman. The whole time I worried because we weren't 17. I knew we were going to be caught.

Was that a movie? I remember watching the television show when I was a kid. I didn't know until some years later it was about the Korean War. For some reason, I thought it was about Vietnam. I know, I was terribly wrong.

The TV show was based on the 1970 film. Gary Burghoff as Radar was the only actor in both. And while it was set in the Korean War, it was an anti-Vietnam War statement. This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at April 23, 2019 5:19 PM MDT

  • Pump up the Volume. I think I was only ten-ish when watched it,  but I convinced my mom to let me watch it even though rated R.. cos I was in love with Christian Slater.

The Exorcist...I think I was 9 in 4th grade.  I have no idea why my parents let us watch that.

    I was about 13.

George Romero's original 1968 "Night of the Living Dead"

-- it pulverized me and it was worth EVERY nightmare I've had since; no movie in my life has continued to make such an impact in my life -- I've traveled to where it was filmed several times, I've met and spoke with many cast members and maintained correspondence with some of them.

Such a terrifying movie for me. A wonderful scare for me always. Well-made masterpiece of a movie!

Can you tell I sort of like the movie?
    :)

(Yeah, a scene from the movie is my avatar.)

I only remember my first XXX rated movie. I was still a virgin when some buddies and I decided to go to a theatre that was all XXX movies. I had never seen anyone doing that stuff before!  (circa 1972)

Kentucky Fried Movie. Tame by today's standards, but it scored an R rating when it was released in Australia due to gratuitous scenes of bare breasted women.

Risky Business with Tom Cruise. I was 12 and my friend convinced her mom to take us to see it. I remember her being a bit mortified when the sex on the train scene came on, but she didn't make us leave. She was definitely considered a cool mom after that! :)

I was at my friend's house and he so wanted me to watch 'nightmare on elm street' with him. I just didnt wanted cause i was scared of Freddy Krueger. But i watched it by being 'forced' by him.
