Discussion»Questions»Celebrities» Even though I like a lot of his songs, I can't find myself excited enough to go see the new movie about Elton John's life, "Rocketman".
I was counting on you for suggestions I could not come up with. I can't think of anyone I care enough about to learn their life story. But I am not thinking along those lines lately. There was a time that I would have read anything about Bob Dylan, but I have lost interest in average people. I am more interested in spiritual people who have a story to tell.
Jamie Foxx portrayed Ray Ray Charles and did a great job! There was TV miniseries about The Temptations, the actors were unknowns, and it was a horrible presentation in that the Afro wigs they wore to depict the late 1960s and the 1970s were so fake-looking that I couldn’t look away.
Sissy Spacek did Loretta Lynn and River Phoenix did Johnny Cash. I’m not a fan of that genre of music, do I was not interested in those movies.
I’m sure others here can name music-related biopics in addition to my entries.
Funny, I was going to say I'd rather not see a movie about a real singer (not just Elton John) but I do know I've really enjoyed reading book biographies about a lot of people - - whoa -- I have to admit, too - - I enjoyed watching that movie about Patsy Cline that starred Jessica Lange and Ed Harris. "Sweet Dreams" I think it was called.
omg -- I'm rambling - -
No, I don't really want to see "Rocketman." I like Elton John's music, though. And Taupin's lyrics to so many of his songs.

I read Patty Smith's and Barbra Striesand. Patty's auto and Barbra's bio and they were both really great reads. I also read ? Chuck Norris' and I have to admit, I liked him. In the book that is. Why am I clumping Chuck in this group? Because he sang the Theme Song for Walker Texas Ranger. (he talked, sang it)

I was in a period of no money and nothing to do and I had access to a library that did not have a large selection of bios. I picked that up out of desperation, and it was quite good. It was filled with history of a time that I had forgotten a lot about. New York in the 60's. Really cool how Dylan and Andy Warhol and Patty Smith kind of hooked up because of the same hang outs.
I want to see it. I really like him, especially since I got to see him live a few years ago. His live performance is amazing. I won’t see it in theatre though. I’ll wait until I can see it at home.
