Discussion»Questions»Life and Society» When an employee returns to work after being intoxicated to the point of obnoxious, do you treat them differently when they return?
I ran the company, and in such a case, I sent them home in a cab.
Happens again, they get suspended on the spot, pending a meeting to review the expectations of all employees
Third strike..., well, yer out. We didn’t employ drunks or junkies. Not fair to our other staff to have to carry habitually impaired co-workers.

Once a worker of mine (someone i knew) Came to work drunk I work Construction He said he had been Drinking all night long and smelled like a brewery. I said take the day off and go get some sleep come back tomorrow when you haven't been drinking. He said no and he was going to work and would not go. I told him the job was closed down and I left. He waited for a few minutes and wobbled out and the door locked behind him, and I went back to work. A few days later he showed up, but then Later on there was an another problem with alcohol, and I fired him.
