I was assigned one in high school. Because I was a girl who wanted to go into engineering. We went to the dinner and we were introduced and that was the last time we talked or seen each other. Lol
No I did not become an engineer.

Two come to mind. they both made a huge impact on me, both professionally and personally/maturing-wise. The one in particular -- she saw things in me I never saw. She was never "officially" a mentor (I know that many careers encourage/require people to be mentors to others) -- I call her my mentor. She simply saw things she admired in my work and we worked a lot together. We've become great friends. We don't work professionally together anymore, just great friends. I'm really grateful to her.
Now, I'm thinking of others in my life who could be mentors - I'm thinking of my personal friends. I'm truly blessed. And I'm taken aback sometimes with my friends -- my closest ones are SO different personality-wise from me. I mean, we obviously have common traits that we see in each other but in many ways, my closest friends bring such wisdom and love to my life. I'm humbled that these people have made the decision to call me their friend. :)

Yeah, I realize this, too. Thanks, Element 99. With such caring, supportive and loving people in my life, I would think I would be still more "put together" but I still have challenges with anxiety. :) And self-doubt. But, I still do well at all of my jobs. And I forge onward - - both in personal and professional relationships and/or friendships. :)
You know - - I'm more "put-together" than I give myself credit. What I wrote is still true but I'm much stronger than those words sound. (I just reread my comment to your comment.)
:)
