What the heck is a "Majority Whip" ? That is a job title in Congress. What does that mean?

The duties of the majority whip are to (1) assist the floor leader, (2) ensure member attendance, (3) count votes and (4) generally communicate the majority position.

Where did the term originate?  Because the person was originally issued an actual whip, in order to "encourage" members to attend and keep them in line.  HA!  Not really true, but it should be.  (My joke)

Whips are the party's "enforcers". They ensure their fellow legislators attend voting sessions and vote according to official party policy. The term is taken from the "whipper-in" during a hunt, who tries to prevent hounds from wandering away from a hunting pack.

It is such an amazingly incongruent word to use.  It is like "cool" slang or something.  I am the WHIP.  Too cool for Congress.

What is a classic, dear?  I have zero idea what you are referring to.  I'm sure it is a hoot.  Tell me.  So I will know.  I bet it is something you posted or said after I went to work and I missed something here.

Replying in an old, weary and shaky voice,
"At my age deary, it's a wonder I can even remember how to tinkle.  Or is that twinkle? See?  I can barely remember what part of my body does what.
Now, you, on the other hand, my dear little playful spirit, keep changing your name. This is hard on wizardresses but does keep me on my toes.
I come happily every week just to see what calamity of fun you have gathered.  Half the time I can't make reason nor rhyme about what you chime."

I don't think you need any help with miracle whip on your sandwiches.  You are already a miracle just being you.  This is very good.

David Domina was a politician from Nebraska who lost the senate race.  If he would have won they should have made him the party whip because he had the perfect last name for that job, lol.
