I'm with you on that one, Tom. As M. Scott Peck put it in The Road Less Travelled, one of the keys to happiness, sanity, and well-balanced life is acceptance of reality as it is.

It's in the way you spell gray. I normally don't say, gr.. AAAAYYY!. I'm happy. I normally spell Gr.. EEEEEEYYYY. I see stress has even my hair under distresss...
I don't need to be shocked but some people do. Even then, some folks just don't get the message and they will end up paying the consequences. While I was having Chemo treatments, there were many other people in the same room having theirs as well. It is a all day process so we got to know each other quite well. What I still don't understand are those who took a couple of breaks to go down stairs to smoke a cigarette before returning and resuming their chemo treatments. One who was there because she ignored spots on her face and now wore a little curtain over her face to hide the missing nose, most of her lips and part of her cheek. I guess if you don't mind suffering no amount of shock will change your ways.
It shocks me more when people don't see the truth right under their noses - but then, another part of me understands that (unconscious) denial is a common strategy for avoiding facing unwelcom facts.

I like to sweep everything under the rug until it builds up and hits me like an unstoppable freight train. Who can't appreciate a little self-sabotage every now and then?
