    Hmmm... that's kind of a grr-A area.

Or, as my grandmother always said, "potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto!  Either way you're gettin' soup!"

I normally use gray but do use both. I just noticed it the other day.

Either is correct as to the color.   I think I use them both, actually.

That's one of those gray areas in English spelling, isn't it?

In all sincerity, I think it has to do with geographic location.  Grey is more popular in the UK and Gray is more reddily used in the US.

Before I looked it up, I thought it had to do with how your grade-school teacher taught you to spell grey and how you had seen it in books.
    Never a dull moment. :) :)

Nobody taught me to spell. I learned it on my own. I didn't need teachers.

I'm more comfortable with "grey" which is the correct spelling in England and Australia.

For me, a grey is any shade on a spectrum between black and white.

If it has any admixture of colour in it, I'll give it another name.

Grey.  Grey is the ONLY way.  Grey grey grey.  The real color of Trump's skin under the orange spray.

There is the color gray - actually many colors as you have shown. As in gray skies. Then there is the kind of grey my hair mostly is now.

  • I use "grey" for the shade. I thought Gray was a surname.
