Oh that thought crosses my mind every now & again. Sure would make my workload a lot easier. I might even be able to finally go on vacation.

  • Nevan II and I would be too competitive; and our intellectual debates would be hopelessly fruitless. The making out would be hot, though ;)

No, one me should be sufficient for the world as for myself.

  • Nope. There's nothing special that makes me worthy of cloning.

Years ago, for selfish and narcissistic reasons I might have said yes. I thought another "me" would make the ideal, friction-free life partner. Now I'm appalled at how static and emotionally incestuous that would have been.

Or, I would have said yes because there was never enough time. More of me, working together, could have accomplished so much more. I also often wished I had eight arms for the same reason.

But now, a clone of me? No thanks! I'm aging and nearly useless.

With stem cell science advancing so rapidly, the issues around cloning demand intensive ethical thinking.

Even now, at birth, rich mothers can freeze their baby's placenta so that in later years she or he can have new organs grown at need from the stem cells. Will the costs come down as the technology becomes more commonplace? Does the planet benefit from our population growing even more as we live longer? What is the cost to others in food, resources and environmental degradation?

With the planet as it is now, I would not dare clone more of me.

Practice your evil laughter; it's a requirement for those who want world domination.
