Not ONCE but TWICE an eloquent capable talented accomplished AFRICAN AMERICAN man was elected president. You'd think that would mean we have  come a long baby. What it did was drive the bad guys to colonize groupize cabalize and get together to elect his ANTITHESIS. A white man who is not eloquent capable talented or accomplished. Pendulum swung bigly this time. From the extreme of delight to the extreme of fright.

Good job y'all. You showed us how bad a decision it was to elect an AFRICAN AMERICAN man. Now y'all are getting your revenge by supporting the most vile WHITE disgusting man as your revenge against this country. You done done a good job.  Proud y'all are right? Of course you are. SIGH.

    I agree that Obama is eloquent, capable, talented, and accomplished.
    More than that, his education and experience in law is the right background for anyone who aims to reform legislation.
    And his heart has always been in the right place, driven by the desire for equality and well-being for all.

    There was something wonderfully inspiring about Obama being black considering the history of slavery and the persecution of blacks in the USA.

    It is uniquely American.
    African Americans are the largest racial minority, comprising an estimated 12.7% of the population.
    Hispanic and Latino Americans are the largest ethnic minority, comprising an estimated 17.8% of the population.
    Native Americans are 2% of the population.
    Whites make up 61.3% of the nation's total.

    It clearly demonstrates a culture of greater equality if anyone who qualifies can be president without fear of backlash on the grounds of race.
    I think America will get there one day - but it will be slow in the evolution - just as everywhere else.

    Consider. In the C4th Danes were hated in England as rapists, pillagers, torturers and murderers.
    Now any blond or redhead is viewed as no different to those who are fair skinned with black or brown hair.
    It has taken around 1600 years to accomplish that.

    A sad fact of human tribalism. :(

    America is a relatively young country. So it took 1600 years to go from savage ugly to civilized. How old are we? STILL IN DIAPERS. Thank you for your thoughtful and once again very informative reply bw. I wonder when America will become toilet trained and be able to give up those diapers? Not in my lifetime for sure. In yours perhaps?

    What is queerly American is its history and racial/ethnic composition -
    even though many other countries are rapidly becoming increasingly multiracial due to the millions of refugees.
    African Americans - 12.7%

    Whites Americans - 61.3%
