How often are you happy just to be alive?

Not because you narrowly escaped death, but because you're not doing anything to make yourself happy.  Lately, I am between trips and all my home improvement projects are done (well, mostly) so I have not been doing anything and I have  really been enjoying it.  And, I think I'm pretty good at it.  Is this a dangerous road to go down?

Every day. Every time I wake up. Every free, healthy breath I take.
Woe unto those who overlook the value of these things.

Is it a better road just living to work, or to seek better living? Sounds to me like you’ve stumbled onto the latter path. Welcome fellow traveler.

Let's put it THIS way, if I have a choice?  I won't be back here.

Oh, I'm so sorry.  I am 67 and I am just remembering what it's like to be glad to be alive - like when I was a child.  Not having to work helps a lot.

Alla time. Wouldn't be able to go out and buy my groceries to eat if I wasn't alive.(I am retired.)

I'm retired too and I think that's why I'm so happy sometimes. This post was edited by CallMeIshmael at July 9, 2019 8:18 AM MDT

  • With every breath my maker gifts me
    I inhale.
I breathe in the moment deeply,
and I am filled with the incredible wonder of simply being.
I am filled with unconditional love.
I am filled with endless hope.
I am filled with fanciful dreams.
I am filled with the holy spirit
    and my cup runneth over.
    and too,
    With every breath I exhale
    I thank my maker
as I let go of this single precious moment
believing in all the possibilities that lie ahead
and I become a vessel waiting to be filled once again.
with all the mystery, and marvel of life.

Nice!!  Not what I'd expect from a person named "Twinkle Dink."

  • I feel like I'm a bit too okay with just how I've been coasting along....mainly career wise. A few years back there was a flurry of graduate school and tacking on a couple certifications but once all that was accomplished the motivation seemed to fade.  Burnout that I apparently just haven't ever snapped out of perhaps.
