Whether or not you believe in Reincarnation Karma Nircana do you like the IDEA of it?

Being "punished" for your sins of each life by being reborn and given another chance to make things right. When you reach that state you are no longer brought back but reach Nirvana...a state absent passion, hatred or delusion.

What you sow in each life you reap in subsequents lives. Some I expect never reach Nirvana because they are unwilling to admit they are imperfect. Others are faster learners and reach a state of being that most of us can only dream of reaching.

So whatcha think?

Nope - I don't believe in any of them.
For every story of someone getting what they deserve by Karma, there are thousands that don't.

I firmly believe there is NO afterlife.
If there were, I think Houdini would have contacted someone.

Think about what you just said Walt. Specifically "For every story of someone getting what they deserve by Karma, there are thousands that don't". How can you possibly KNOW that? In order to KNOW that you would have to follow them lifetime to lifetime to lifetime and since you don't believe in it you would never know. Your thinking is a bit fuzzy on that Walt. I think it's because you don't think about it. If you did you would know that what you wrote is unknowable. Thank you for your reply!  :)

    Exactly.
What is be the point of Karma, if we can't witness it?
How would it be a reward or deterrent?

Reward/Punishment has to be knowable, for it to be effective.
Therefore, I don't believe in any "unknowable" system of reward/punishment.

You will witness yours Walt. Not  mine. Why would you want to witness mine when you are the one who has to live a good life so you can move on? KARMA is not a public reckoning where there is an audience to witness it. Karma is a very personal private thing. Once again I don't buy what you are trying to sell. Why does that matter at all? I have zero to do with your journey in life here or how every many of them there may be. Nor you mine. Now is it possible we met before somewhere in time or that we may meet again in another lifetime? I think anything is possible. Ball is in YOUR court. Thank you  fort your reply. I'm gonna ask.

I would want to witness someone else getting their "Karma" (good or bad) for the same reason we have public trials.
It is evidence that the person "got justice".

Which brings up a question, in my mind.
IF someone actually believes the universe or some higher power is automatically rewarding/punishing people for their behavior ... why do we bother having any "justice system"?  Why waste all that money and personnel on bringing someone to justice, if the universe/god is going to do it anyway?  And does someone being punished (or rewarded) by our system, adjust their Karma balance?
