The Buddhists figured it out thousands of years ago, and gave a plan to fix it, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone at this point.

We were born to grow, learn, reproduce, raise children and die.

I worked it out. Thanks. Sometimes life gives us lemons and we must make lemonade. I will grow for it. "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."

    a part of life

    to learn from?

but that is not our purpose for being here.

...We are able to realize that Truth which is within us

and create a beautiful life upon this planet, living in joy and happiness.

...and we are given a chance to work off the karma of past lives.

...And we are given the Choice to pursue

that or to pursue whatever else we would wish...

We came to this earth to learn.  Sometimes learning is painful. It's exponentially moreso if you don't pay attention in class.

You must not be an atheist, otherwise there'd be no point in learning. :-)

  • No.  We just are here. There is no reason to ascribe intent to our existence.
