I’m an avid runner. (This last Sunday I participated in a half-marathon.)

Why 2.4 miles? That's very specific.

It just turned out that way.  I made a route through the woods that covered various types of terrain and took about an hour to complete.  According to my Fitbit, the route is 2.4 miles (a little over 5,000 steps).

I maintain only a moderate level of fitness - not quite as much as I should.
The routine is walking down the hill to feed the horses and back up again every morning.
On the way up I do 3 x 3-minute sprints - interval training.
But added to that - I might spend time in the round-yard training one of the horses, or go out for a horse ride.
Or I might spend 4 - 8 hours weeding. This is slow, low-aerobic work, but over the span of time mounts up - takes endurance.

Strength exercises come from hefting twenty-kilo bags of feed, saddles, or gardening work.

In the house, I do a few basic yoga stretches every day to maintain flexibility.

I do other things like cycling, bushwalking and kayaking, not as often as I'd like, but the fact that I don't feel sore afterwards tells me that my daily routines really do make a difference.

How about you Jonny Angel Goat?

    I do a lot of walking up-hill.
I live on the side of a mountain in a valley full of rolling acreage si it feels as though no matter where you go, you are always going uphill.  I don't know if that makes any sense to you, lol

Did I say my home is rural?  It was with my best intentions that I would attempt to live as independently as possible.  I made the attempt at growing, foraging then canning my own foods, hunting (wild turkey & woodcock), cutting my own firewood, hiking, horseback riding, swimming...
All of that was fun and kept me lean and trim.  Aside from that, I spend 2 hours in the Gym each day weight training and doing cardio.
Unfortunately, I am no longer capable of doing these things. My levels of physical activity have decreased tremendously and my health has suffered dearly.  Alas, that is a story for another day  *sigh*
