Seriously and sincerely HELP! What is an Evangelical? Why do some Christians believe in THE RAPTURE while others don't? Do you know?

It keeps coming up over and over and over and over. Does anyone anywhere understand exactly how Jews are integral to Jesus returning and the world ending and certain folks ascending into Heaven by RAPTURE or whatever mechanism?

I am very simply utterly perplexed puzzled and confused. There was a series of books out that were very popular that I think were all about THE RAPTURE. People would suddenly disappear and leave their clothes behind as God called them up to heaven.

Some Christians say The Rapture is not in the Bible. If not (I am not a biblical scholar so I don't know) where did it come from?

If anyone will explain it so I can understand once and for all what's what I will be very appreciative. I betcha other Answermuggers will too.

    It comes from a very narrow interpretation of Rev 19-22. Anybody who claims to understand that book completely is either lying through their teeth or deluded. I'm a biblical scholar and I don't make that claim. All will be revealed in time, absolutely NONE of it has been revealed yet and many folks who have made predictions about when the world will end based on it have fallen on their a$$.

    Thank you so much for responding to this question R. I really appreciate t. I am so confused about it. Both sides are SO CERTAIN their views are 100% CORRECT it boggles my mind. So no one really 'knows' a dam* thing. I wonder where that certainty comes from? I know that different folks through the centuries have said "the world will end on ......."  and it has been floated at least a zillion times. There are even folks who sold all their belongings and went on a mountaintop to await the end of times.. We're still here. Amazing ain't it? Happy Thursday m'dear! :) Ya know what I wonder if anyone who has espoused specific views will have the courage to challenge you! If they have the courage of their convictions they will show up and engage you R. If not I'll be very disappointed.     Most do not read the Bible. They believe what they are told. If you do not read and understand the Bible yourself then anyone can twist a verse here and there to confuse a person. Because you do not know enough to know it is being twisted.
