Actually ... we've had floating nuclear power plants for decades.
Nuclear reactors have been placed on ships, including to provide propulsion, for more than 50 years. A World War II-era cargo ship, the SS Charles H. Cugle, was converted into a nuclear power plant in the 1960s. It was used to provide the U.S. Army with power. The vessel was stationed at the Panama Canal Zone from 1968 to 1976, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Personally, given the number of accidents with Russian reactors ... I think somebody should offer to send nuclear engineers on an inspection tour and update their technology. I mean, is it better for the entire world for "us" to keep our (safer) nuclear technology a secret, or to share it with other countries (even enemies) to prevent possible meltdown situations? I think it's better to share and keep the world safer from possible contamination.
Then WHY did they lie and say it is the FIRST? Does everyone lie all the time about everything? Sheesh. Thank you for your reply Walt and Happy Tuesday! You're not lying though right? I can trust you. Right?
Sensationalism. The vast majority of the media is more concerned about making a profit, than telling objective news. So we now have the term "infotainment" ... because the media believes they have to be biased and/or sensational to make a profit.
Plus, reporters and editors are lazy when it comes to fact-checking. You still get some claiming Iraq/Afghanistan is our longest-running war. Totally ignoring that the Korean War has been going since the 1950s.
She was too busy riding around on her seadoo while shooting whales with a bazooka. Cheers!
