Ya I have a home made portable TV vacuum tube tester A friend of the family gave it to me before he died he only made one of them so I feel pretty special to have the only one in the Woirld. Cheers!
Wow. Those will last 500 years. How special is that. I made a bed for my daughter that will also be around for a long time. It has been passed around to others and I have no idea where it is now. I hope they enjoy.
I'm a dab hand and making nearly anything out of timber....only the weight of hard woods restricts what I can machine on my own.... I get lost in time making things....it has to be one of the pleasurable jobs ever I think Papa I spend a lot of time in my dads joinery workshop....lol
Wow. What a talented woman you are. Joinery baffles me. I have to limit myself to what I taught myself as my father disappeared when I was 6 and never taught me anything. I got his chemistry genes from him, though.
Yes. I have a mask made for a great great grandson by a great great grandfather in Belgium. The man who gave it to me was 76 years old and the mask was in his garage. He lived on the property next to the house we were occupying. We were visiting the Belgian country home of South American friends of my boyfriend's family. I just happened to walk in there with my boyfriend who was going in to get a tool or something. I asked the old man about it and he said he was that little boy. The mask was made for a festival; Belgium is full of festivals. I went a little crazy about it. It was such a treasure. All kinds of textures and colors. Every piece handmade and quite rugged. The day before we were leaving the old man came to the door with the mask. He wanted to give it to me. I couldn't believe it! I had to buy a suitcase in which to bring it home. The mask hung in my living room for about 20 years. The story is involved and I no longer have it but the last time I knew where it was, it was hanging in the lobby of an art museum.

The key phrase is "that nobody else in the world with EVER have."
I have a few unique, one-of-a-kind things made by my dad ... but when I die, they will likely be passed on to other family members. (unless they actually follow my wish for all my possessions to be burned in my funeral pyre. lol)
