Visa or MasterCard?

Before anybody says AmEx, forget it - NOBODY accepts it.

    Does not matter.

I accept Visa, MC, Amex, Discover, and checks.  I tell customers: "I will take their money anyway I can get it."

If a merchant calls Amex and tells them they want to cancel their account, Amex will remove their monthly fee and adjust their rate to make it still reasonable to accept them. This post was edited by my2cents at September 6, 2019 7:48 PM MDT

You can't use AmEx online - 16 numbers or it won't go through on 90% of sites.

    Neither have I.
Among other things, I’ve  purchased real estate with my AmEx.

Points, miles and rewards are like doggy treats to get you to spend more. Look at me...I got fifteen dollars back by buying something I don't need for $1,000

Points, miles and rewards are geared toward people who spend lots of money. (Honestly, those on tight budgets shouldn’t bother with these kinds of cards.)

Points alone paid my family’s airfare to Italy. Rewards got us lodging and service upgrades.

I seldom(never) buy things I don’t need with a credit card. That’s what cash is for.  ;-) This post was edited by Don Barzini at September 6, 2019 8:17 PM MDT

They were currency in America's early years. (Naughty mind.)

  • I use Visa.

Places seem to be more accepting than they used to be, but I do still come across businesses that don't accept AmEx and/or Discover, so for that reason alone I wouldn't choose either.

My debit card is a master card. I have no credit cards. I don't need them. If I can't pay for it, I don't need it.

Oh and American Express?  Please.  Leave home without it.  It is virtually useless.  And they overcharge you.  Don't fool yourself.
