Just small planes and sometimes a helicopter mostly. On Remembrance Day (Memorial Day in USA) there will be a lot of WWII aircraft flying in formation overhead for a few hours in the afternoon.
It's only a matter of time before the nearby airport ejects a plane onto my property. In fact, a low flying plane clipped a tractor-trailer on the highway as it struggled to gain lift. (no one was injured in that one!) Made one hell of a banging sound.
No. However, most of the aircraft flying around here aren't your typical aircraft. The most common aircraft around here are Cal Fire tanker planes and U-2's (although lately there've been numerous PG&E helicopters out inspecting the power lines). F-16's are somewhat common as well (we even had a 747 global supertanker flying just above the treetops a few years back, helping to extinguish a local fire).
The sound of airplanes is constant background noise for me. I also get frequent low-flying helicopters taking off or landing at the hospital a few blocks away.
