    The Cu Chi base camp was sitting on top of a major VC/NVA tunnel complex. It extended for many miles and some parts were hundreds of feet deep. Those tunnels kept our tunnel rats busy 24/7.

    So I was told.  Many of my NCO's and some senior Officers relayed tales of the Army's endeavors on the burrowing "rodent" population.  Marines up North faced similar though not as extensive I have been told.  From what I have read I could not have been a Tunnel Rat.

    Marine, E1 to O5, I also survived my deployments.

    I was on a 4 Deuce mortar crew, so I didn't have a chance to be a rat. I lucked out with that.
